A recreation of communication with the City of Los Angeles about speculative development projects in my neighborhood. The dense and impersonal language of notification documents, appeal forms. and bureaucratic correspondence inspired me to respond in the reflective tone and imagistic language characteristic of tanka, a form of Japanese lyric poetry.
