For most of the 90’s Club Prophylactive, a safer sex club for urban youth, roved through downtown’s Deep House and Hip Hop nightclubs. Designed for a variety of large and architecturally diverse spaces, this environmental installation integrated music and performance, multiple video and slide projections, and a carnival of interactive sites ( the Latex Lounge ) into the immersive environment of a dance party. Each club drew an audience of 1000-2500. Artistically, the clubs allowed me to experiment with how scale, peripheral vision, abstraction, and spatialized sound create meaning that starts and travels through the body.
